Grand Seiko was launched in August 1960 at Suwa Seikosha and was also produced at the second Seikosha (Kameido Factory) from 1964. As the worlds most prestigious brand born in Japan, Seikos masterpiece Grand Seiko has always walked on the cutting edge. It was also the last hand-wound Grand Seiko made by Suwa Seikosha as a luxury product that combines practicality and durability from the first, the highest class product that was intended for some privileged class.
The "Grand Seiko Self-Data/second typy Chromete" was launched as the successor to the first Grand Seiko with a new date function. The case design is more voluminous than that of the first generation GS. The case design of the second model is inherited by the current Grand Seiko.

The model introduced here is the original Grand Seiko 2nd second mid-term model with a small number of production. There is a lion medallion on the back cover.
